I have been super busy these past few weeks. I finally launched my cupcake business on the interwebs AND have had actual orders from the website (not just relying on word of mouth). It is a little overwhelming AND exciting at the same time! Last week I didn’t post anything because I was just tired from being so busy.
I’m going to get straight to the point on this post and I am excited about it because I have been playing with this recipe for about 3-4 years now and I think I have got it finally!
Homemade Sloppy Joe’s. They are delicious and filling and probably my favourite easy meal to make. I top mine with cheese.
Here is what you need;
- 1 lb ground turkey (or beef, or whatever you eat)
- 1 sweet pepper
- 1 med yellow onion
- 1/4 C BBQ sauce
- 1 C Ketchup
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- salt and black pepper to taste
The first thing I did was chop up the onion and sweet pepper and set them aside while cooking the ground turkey in a skillet on med-high. No oil added – I just let the fat cook the turkey.
When the ground turkey was browned I added the onions and black pepper. When the onions caramelized enough, I lowered the temperature and added the sweet peppers and then the remaining ingredients – mixing them in while they cooked.
That’s about it. If you like your buns toasted, this is the time to do so and grate your cheese. Once everything is thoroughly mixed and you are satisfied with the taste then you should be gold!
So yummy and filling!
